Finally Brixton is holding a new festival to celebrate our culture and heritage by way of traditional sound systems, live music, street entertainment, art exhibitions and zones for African, Caribbean, Latin and Busker tings. ‘Brixton Wave’ was officially launched on Wednesday 1st March 2017 by Lambeth Council leader Cllr Lib Peck and Ross Griffiths who is the organiser. All the events will be in and around Atlantic Road, Brixton Road and Saltoun Road. The festival organisers will be looking for around 100 volunteers to help the running of the festival, so if you want to be part of it…. www.brixtonwave.co.uk
Brixton Splash was founded in 2005 and had continued to be a huge success. It was cancelled in February 2016 as it costed too much to police and to clear up afterwards, according to Lambeth Council. So let’s make the most of it! This festival is not just a celebration of Jamaican and British culture, arts and music but also a celebration of Jamaican Independence Day.
LETS CELEBRATE, EAT GOOD FOOD & DANCE…
